
JALAN-JALAN IN PENANG

Penang Island is a wonderful place located in Malaysia to have a short getaway trip despite the age or race. It is surrounded by crystal clear Malacca Strait water and also beautiful tropical forest in the island. Even the island is quite small, but there are too many tourist attractions and also foods you must try in a lifetime. Wondering how to go from here to there? What’s the fastest way? No worries, we have all the solutions for you!
Starting from Air Itam, a place you must go in Penang, sells hundreds kinds of foods and more activities waiting you, but the first food we would recommend you must try is Asam Laksa. A rich and spicy, fish-based soup noodle, with prawn paste. But there are so many stalls in Penang, which to try? We would recommend you a stall in Jalan Pasar, Ayer Itam. It’s just right beside Air Itam Market, and a small reminder, it closed on every Tuesday.
Beside that, you can go on Penang Hill in Air Itam. It only takes you 10 minutes of walk to there. Penang Hill is a place where you can view the whole city, also a great place to take photos as your memories.
Next, believe all of you have known Penang is a place filled with street arts. There were artists came around to this city and did some great street art. It is a great place for those who loves arts and drawing. There are a lot of famous street arts located in Lebuh Chulia, including sister and brother cycling, minion, catch me if you can and more.
Not only there are a lot of street arts, but also historical places, like Khoo Kongsi, Yap Kongsi Temple, Chinahouse, for you to know more about our culture and the background of it. More foods waiting for you also. There are famous cafes which makes the place more popular.The roads are really small there so we would recommend you to cycle all around the places. You can simply cycle and you get to discover a lot things there. Cycle can makes us to have a good exercise, but also get stronger bonding with the one you cycling with, either your family, friends, partner or even your cousins.
Where to rent the bicycles? Recommend you Freedom Leisure Cycle Supply. They rent different kinds of bikes, such as individual bikes, “two-in-one” bikes and four people bikes. The prices are affordable and cheap. And if you are a student, you may get student price by flashing them your student identity card.
Lastly, we would recommend you to Clan Jetties of Penang. Clan Jetties form part of the Penang Heritage Trail. There used to be seven jetties until one was demolished by fire and now six remain. Billed as one of the last bastions of old Chinese settlements on the island, this waterfront society is home to houses on stilts of various Chinese clans.
Definitely you would like to try more Penang foods right? There are a place selling all various kinds of foods you want to get and the prices are incredibly cheap. It’s called Gurney Drive. The road is also famous for the street cuisine at the seafront's hawker centre and has been listed as one of the 25 best streets worldwide to visit by the Australian travel magazine, The Traveller. It has been 89 years since it was built. The foods they selling are LorBak, Char Kuey Teow, Asam Laksa, Prawn Mee, Nasi Kandar and many more.
As conclusion, Penang Island is a great place to go and definitely transportation is not a problem if you have a car. But if you don’t have one, no worries, the public bus services are really efficient and it brings you around the island. Hopefully you have a great time during your trip!
